SIVANZ is pleased to present the results of the first ever Special Interest Vehicle Manufacturers and Suppliers (SIVMAS) Industry Survey.
You are receiving these results because you were one of the 500 participants during the period May-June 2019 when the survey was conducted. We acknowledge that the results are late and thank those participants that sent us follow up requests for the results to be distributed as soon as was practicable.
The results confirm our belief that SIV manufacturers and suppliers (SIVMAS) are a significant contributor to the NZ economy. SIVANZ estimates that contribution to be circa $5Bn.
One of SIVANZ’s goals is to work with the SIV industry to strengthen and showcase the sector. We think it important to present a collective industry voice to demonstrate strength supported by solid industry data.
SIVANZ made submissions to government late 2019 (Clean Car Standard and Clean Car Discount) and drew on some of the industry supplied data to support our submission. That’s the value of your responses – they draw attention to the issues and have the power to contribute to change.
SIVANZ intends to draw on the data again as we head into the 2020 election year. We will continue to represent our collective strength and present arguments for SIV businesses and SIV owners to be considered fairly in the climate change discussions and impending government driven initiatives to reduce carbon emissions. As SIV owners are affected by change so too will SIV businesses feel its impacts.
We want to inform you too that while our recent request for Expressions of Interest in a SIVMAS Forum/ Conference for May 2020 received a good response from SIV businesses, there was not enough interest to warrant the investment of time and money.
At present, we are re-evaluating our next steps for a SIVMAS conference. An early discussion with some SIVMAS members indicates that late this year or early in 2021 may be a better target period. We will continue to canvas members’ preferences in order to host what we believe to be a timely and unique event.
If you are interested in attending or have feedback on the SIVMAS conference, please send it to us.
Regards Andrew
